Y2 trip to Mill Green Museum

Year 2 enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Mill Green Museum to support their learning about the Great Fire of London. Throughout the day, the children took part in six hands-on activities that brought history to life. They stepped into the shoes of Samuel Pepys by writing their own diary entries, built houses similar to those found in London in 1666, and baked bread just as Thomas Farriner would have done in his bakery. The children also learnt how a water mill works and discovered the process of turning grain into flour. Using special tools, they explored artefacts like archaeologists, carefully investigating objects from the past. Finally, they examined everyday items used in 1666 and compared them with their modern-day equivalents, helping them to understand how life has changed over time.
