Year 2 Art – Exploring Artists and Colour

In Art, Year 2 have been exploring the lives and artwork of three inspirational artists: Alma Thomas, Hilma af Klint and Wassily Kandinsky. The children have learnt about each artist's unique style and the techniques they used to create their work. Throughout the unit, they have experimented with colour by mixing primary colours to create secondary colours, as well as adding black and white to make colours darker or lighter, creating different shades and tints. The children then used their new skills and knowledge to create their own pieces of artwork, taking inspiration from the artists they had studied. We have loved seeing their creativity shine as they experimented with colour, pattern and different artistic techniques!
