English – The Tempest (Reading Roots edition) by William Shakespeare

In English, the children have been immersed in William Shakespeare’s The Tempest as part of our Reading Roots learning. The class explored the story’s main themes including power, betrayal, forgiveness, magic and friendship, developing a deeper understanding of the characters and their relationships throughout the play.

The children particularly enjoyed discovering how playscripts are written and performed, noticing how they differ from the narrative writing they have completed before. They learnt about stage directions, dialogue and the structure of scenes, and enthusiastically wrote their own version of an act in Shakes
