Year 6 local area walk

This week, our pupils enjoyed a fascinating local area walk to Cheshunt Park as part of their geography learning. Using maps from the past alongside modern-day maps, the children explored how our local area has changed over time.

During the walk, pupils carefully compared roads, buildings, green spaces and landmarks, spotting features that have stayed the same and those that have changed dramatically. They discussed how housing, transport and local facilities have developed to meet the needs of a growing community.

The children showed excellent map-reading skills and worked collaboratively to identify differences between historical and current maps. They particularly enjoyed discovering how parts of Cheshunt looked many years ago and imagining what life might have been like for people living there in the past.

It was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to bring their classroom learning to life while developing a deeper understanding of the history and geography of their local area.
