Year 3 – Escape from Pompeii

This half term in Year 3 we have been inspired by the exciting book Escape from Pompeii. The children have loved exploring the story and imagining what it would have been like to live in the Roman city of Pompeii before Mount Vesuvius erupted.

In English, the children have produced some fantastic writing. They have written setting descriptions to bring the city of Pompeii to life, diary entries imagining they were there on the day of the eruption, letters of advice to help the characters stay safe, and even newspaper reports about the dramatic events.

We have also linked our learning to History and Geography. The children have been learning about life in Ancient Rome and exploring how volcanoes form and erupt.

Year 3 have shown great enthusiasm and creativity throughout this topic and should be very proud of their work!
