Geography

We are now halfway through our whole school Geography Spotlight, and it has been fantastic to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic. The main focus of our learning has been climate change and understanding how we can all play a part in looking after our planet.
Children across the school have created freehand world maps, developing their knowledge of continents, oceans and countries, while thinking about how climate and weather differ around the world. They have also watched inspiring clips from David Attenborough, which prompted thoughtful discussions about environmental change. Children then wrote postcards to him, sharing what they had learned and asking insightful questions.
As part of daily learning, classes kept a weather record, helping children spot patterns and begin to understand the difference between weather and climate.
Community involvement has been a real strength. Parents and carers are currently visiting us to talk about their experiences of other countries and how climate impacts different places.
